URGENT NOTICE TO ALL BRISBANE ETHNIC AND RELATED COMMUNITIES

PLEASE COME TO YUNGABA 9AM AUSTRALIA DAY 26 January 2007

QUEST newspapers will be doing a story on the sale of Yungaba and the need
for it to be retained for public use for future generations.
They would like to take a photograph for their article

COULD YOU PLEASE COME IN YOUR NATIONAL DRESS IF POSSIBLE
We will have a cake to commemorate the 120 years anniversary of the opening
of the building to receive immigrants to Queensland.

THE MORE NUMBERS OF PEOPLE IN THE PHOTOGRAPH THE STRONGER THE MESSAGE TO THE
GOVERNMENT TO RETAIN THIS BUILDING FOR THE PUBLIC

This is a major opportunity to show the depth of feeling in the community on
the need to retain YUNGABA as a site of memory for the immigrant experience
to Queensland

QUEENSLAND IS THE ONLY AUSTRALIAN STATE WITHOUT A MONUMENT OR MUSEUM TO
CELEBRATE THE MIGRANT EXPERIENCE

QUEENSLAND IS THE ONLY AUSTRALIAN STATE WITH A MAGNIFICANT DEDICATED
IMMIGRANT DEPOT WHICH HAS BEEN WELCOMING MIGRANTS FOR OVER 100 YEARS

IMMIGRATION IS STILL A MAJOR PART OF QUEENSLAND SOCIETY - HELP US SAVE THIS
IMPORTANT PIECE OF QUEENSLAND HISTORY
